TestDaF is a language examination for foreign students of German wanting to study in Germany or in need of a generally acknowledged proof of their knowledge of the German language.
The examination TestDaF is centrally developed and assessed by the TestDaF-Institut in Hagen and taken in licensed test centers in about 80 countries throughout the world.
Results correspond to three levels:
In the Europe's Common European Framework 'The European Language Certificates' they correspond to the levels B 2.1 to C 1.2.
If you attain at least TDN 4 in each part of the examination, you are free to study in Germany from a language point of view (of course you also have to fulfill all other professional and legal requirements). If your test result is judged TDN 5, you dispose of very good knowledge of German that are above the level required for studying in Germany.
In some German universities lower levels than TDN 4 in the different parts of the examination are also sufficient for acceptance. Each university has its own admission regulations. Please inquire which TestDaF-results are required by the university / the course of studies of your choice before submitting your application for a university place. Some universities also publish their requirements on their websites.
All topics and tasks are part of the field of university, since TestDaF is relevant for applicants of all subjects.
